Made with Love Photo Book

Hi There Folks,

How are you today? Me I am hanging on by the seat of my pants, I have so much to do and not enough time to do it in, and to add to it all I have done something bad to my shoulder /neck but not sure what! All I can say is it is agony at times, doctor prescribed some scary drugs so needless to say I shan’t be taking them!! Anyways I am behind the curve as I am off on my hollibobs tomorrow and have nothing prepared not only with my blog but also with all the packing and stuff…….hey ho never mind I will get it done, I am sure of that!

Anyway’s enough of my ramblings and on to today’s little cute project……even if I do say so!  This is a photobook. Well that is what I am calling it. Any other idea’s of what these are called will be greatly appreciated.

IMG_0302

I have even done a little video of how to make it so I do hope you enjoy it. I purposely do not mention measurements in my video’s now as I end up blabbering the wrong thing and I don’t want you to waste your gorgeous papers that you have at home. So here are the measurements for the entire project.

All measurements in Inches (apart from where stated on the appeture for the  window sheet)

Chipboard 6 1/2 ” x 4 1/2″ (you will need 2 of these)

Chipboard 3/4 ” x 6 1/2

Designer Series Paper ( for the book cover and inside covers)

8 1/2 ” x 12″

6 1/4″  x 4″ (you will need 2 of these)

6 1/4 “x  2″

Designer Series paper for photo holder

4 7/8″ x 6 7/8″

This piece will be scored at 3/8″ on all 4 sides.

Lining one edge on the 1″ mark use your cutting blade on your trimmer to cut out a window as shown in the video.

with long edge of paper butted up to top edge of the trimmer

go to the 2.5cm mark and cut  to 9.7cm  then rotate

again go to 2.5cm mark and cut to 14.9cm then rotate

again go to 2.5 cm mark and cut to 9.7cm then rotate

lastly go to 2.5cm mark and cut to 14.9 your aperture should now be cut

Alternativley

On the back of the DSP mark a 1 ” line from all 4 sides to create a rectangle and cut it out with your craft knife. Make sure you mark on the wrong side though as you don’t want any pen marks visible.

So that is  my project today. I thought this would be super lovely as a gift for someone who has just had a baby or you could put a child’s school photo in or any photo really . Really simple to make but quite effective. I hope you manage to give this one a go.

Well peeps that is all I have for you today. Thank you for stopping by and I will catch up with you a week on Monday with another Idea I have to add to the loveliness of this book. But you could always make two of the window apertures and put one on either side of the inside cover , double trouble or double the pleasure.

Take care everyone and Happy crafting whatever you may be making. Mandy x

A Little Bit of Playing

Hi There Folks,

How are you all today? I am coming to you live from Southport, and it is quite simply Scorchio!! We are here for a little visit and I can tell you I think I need to go to sleep now with all the activities we have planned for today. Is the Summer school holidays nearly over ? I Think I will need another holiday after this one!!

Today’s cards comes from my coffee and a card today. What I do is turn up at The Craftea Cafe in Lincoln with a bag full of crafting goodies and a specific Stamp set by Stampin’ Up! I also make a few cards with the chosen stamp set to give examples. My customers that come then decide if they would like to copy one of my cards or go off on their own creative genius and make one of their own.

Today we used The Playful Pals Stamp set, oh this is such a fun stamp set. The amount of different animals and monsters you can make with just this one stamp set is fantastic. So here are just a few that I made.

I hope that if you have this stamp set, you will drag it out and dust it off and have a play. It is such fun and if you have kids, well, they will just have the best time and they might just give you five minutes peace before saying those fantastic words that we all love…….”I’m bored”.  If you do manage to make something please do share with me as I just love to see what other people make as I am nosey like that…..lol!

Well best I be off to start the mad day at Southport, promenade/arcades/fair/park/scootering you know the list is endless!!

As i said I could not stop using this set……….  lol .

Book Wrapping – The Basics

Hi Folks,

Sorry I missed you last week, I just never got my act together and i have no excuse other than to tell you that  life got in the way!  I went to Scotland to see my Mammy and all my other family that lives in the area. It was such a great week, my girls went swimming every day and had their very first riding lesson on my uncles horses and they absolutely loved it! Maybe should have held off on the horse riding as now they want a horse…….lol.

Anyway moving on, today’s project . It is all about showing you how I make a book cover. I know I have covered this before in my notebook video but I wanted there to be a video on just the first part of this process so it will be easy to reference back to. This also means I will not have to cover this part of the process every time I do a project over the next few weeks. This will keep the video times down to under 15 mins.

Above you can see I have make two book covers awaiting the next part of the project.

I purposely never gave you measurements in the video for this project as they will  vary from project to project and will be mentioned on specific blog posts relating to the project.

I hope to see you again on Wednesday when I will be bringing you another project using Stampin’ Up products and on Friday I will be showing you what I did to the inside of the above book. I will give you a sneak peek of Friday’s project……….

IMG_0252

My colouring is not the best on this but I am learning again from my friend Lou ( go and check her out she does some amazing colouring!) I have not got the hang of it yet but practice makes perfect and all that!! So what is inside I hear you ask?…………..

Sorry but you will just have to come back on Friday to find out.

Thanks for stopping by and I will catch up with you on Wednesday.

Take Care and Happy Crafting whatever you may be making. Mandy x

Notebook + Pen

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you had a great weekend, did you get up to anything great or make anything fabulous? I went to Flamingo land with my girls and felly  and I think I left my stomach behind with all the rides we went on. Oh what fun we had!!

Today I am bringing you the same project I brought you on Friday but this time I have added a pen to the centre panel. You will not be able to do this with Friday’s notebook measurements, as they have been adjusted to accommodate the pen. All changes in the measurements from Friday’s Tutorial are in red.

IMG_0184

All measurements in Inches

My notebook measured 3 1/4 x 4 inches. ( I used the ones from Wilko’s)

I used 1 sheet of Affectionately Yours Speciality DSP .(I did not use the full sheet)

DSP

Cut 1 piece at10″ x 6″ . Score this on 9 3/4″ side at 3/4″ and also on the 6″ side at 3/4″

Cut 1 piece 4  1/4 ” x 3  1/2 ”

Cut one piece at 3 1/2″ x 3  3/4″ scored on 3 3/4″ side at 1/2″

Cut one piece at 1 3/4″  x 4 1/4″

Finally cut one piece at 2″ x 3 1/2 (pink pocket)

Chip board

Cut 2 pieces at 3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″

Cut 1 piece at 3/4″ x 4 1/2 (spine)

Once you have all your pieces cut you can watch through the video.

I mention in the video that I use the packaging from Stampin Up products that uses Chipboard. If I have run out of the packaging I also get my chipboard from a craft shop in Peterborough who do on line orders. They are http://www.sirstampalot.co.uk and it is 2mm chipboard I use. It does not seem to bend and holds it’s shape. If you spend more that £10 ( it is either £10 or £20 in their shop and you live in the UK ) postage is free. Janice and Andy run the shop and they are lovely .

As always thanks so much for joining me today and I will catch up with you again on Wednesday with another project and Friday with a project/video combo.

I have received the new Autumn/Winter catalogue from Stampin Up! so if you would like a copy just leave me a comment and I will get one posted out to you.

Until  next time, Happy Crafting everyone, whatever you may be making Mandy x

Pop of Pink Notebook

Hi there folks,

How are you all? Me I am fine, busy busy trying to keep ahead of the game with all that we have got planned for the summer. I am hoping the weather will hold over the next few weeks as we will be travelling all over. I am off to Scotland next week to see my mammy for the week. When we get back from there we are off to Southport to see other grandma, then we are off to Skegvagas ! My girls love it there even though it is not too far from us we still have to stay on site at Butlins. Think I will have to take some craft supplies along.

What do you take on Holiday? If Anything?

Anyway you are not here to listen to my ramblings. I made these little notebooks albeit slightly larger ones for my team mates when we went to Stampin’ Up’ On Stage in Brussels last year. I make them all the time as gifts as they are quick and simple.

IMG_0157

The best bit about them is you can use the chipboard that you get in Stampin’ Up! packaging like : to keep the DSP flat the grey board behind the pretty paper, or there is a big bit in the Oh Happy Day Card kit, it is in a lot of their packaging. So recycling is always good.

I am so sorry that the video  I made seems a bit too much edited, The computer said NO when I wanted to upload it at 22 mins long (that is how long it took originally to make) so I had to get that down to under 15 mins!! Which is a good thing really so you don’t have to listen to my waffle!! Anyway on to what you need…..

All measurements in Inches

My notebook measured 3 1/4 x 4 inches. ( I used the ones from Wilko’s)

I used 1 sheet of Pop of Pink Designer DSP.(I did not use the full sheet)

DSP

Cut 1 piece at 9 3/4″ x 6″ . Score this on 9 3/4″ side at 3/4″ and also on the 6″ side at 3/4″

Cut 1 piece 4  1/4 ” x 3  1/2 ”

Cut one piece at 3 1/2″ x 3  3/4″ scored on 3 3/4″ side at 1/2″

Cut one piece at 1  1/2″x 4 1/4

Finally cut one piece at 2″ x 3 1/2 (pink pocket)

Chip board

Cut 2 pieces at 3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″

Cut 1 piece at 1/2″ x 4 1/2 (spine)

Once you have all your pieces cut you can watch through the video.

****( I do say on the video that the spine is 1  1/2 ” x 4 1/2 this is a mistake ) sorry.***

I have a few close ups for you

IMG_0153

This is where the note book will slot in. you need to pinch the top inwards to give you the gaping effect. The same with the pocket below

IMG_0154

And here it is on the inside

IMG_0156

I hope you liked my project today. I used the Layering love stamp set for the greeting on the front. I love this sentiment it is so apt in so many things. I hope you manage to giving this notebook a try as they are great to make just for that little present and they look great.

IMG_0158

If you wanted to hang a pen in the middle of this notebook you can easily achieve this. Let me know if you would like to see how and I will do a quick video on it.

Thanks so much for your company, I have enjoyed crafting with you today. I will catch up with you on Monday with another little project or the how to on adding a pen!!

Happy Crafting everyone, whatever you may be making. Mandy 😘

Pop of Pink Notes

Hey there !

How are you all doing? It is midweek so that only means one thing ……only 5 hours to go and we will be on the right side of the weekend! Do you have any plans? Me I am working then I will have to get my crafty on, on Sunday to make all the blog posts for next week as I am going to visit my mammy In Scotland! Yay!!

Anyway sorry for the ramblings, today I am bringing you another simple notebook, easy to make and can either be used hanging up, in a bag or stuck to the fridge using a magnet. It is a pretty one though. ( I am leading up to the more difficult notebook on Friday on my video, so  come back for that!)

IMG_0134

Oh doesn’t it look great in those colours? Everything just pops. You will notice that I am using my fav Wilko notebooks again as they are cheap and cheerful and the paper is really good quality considering. Of Course you can make this any size you like. just leave room round your notebook be 1/4 inch. Here is my measurements though.

All measurements in Inches (cm in brackets)

Melon Mambo 3 3/4 x 4 1/2 (9.6 x 11.5 )

Basic Black 4 x 4 3/4 (10.1 x 12.1)

Pop of Pink DSP 3 1/4 x 2 (8.2 x 5)

So as I said really simple to make. On the basic black piece you need to tape your bakers twine to the top and then for the melon mambo piece I used dimensionals as I did not want my notebook to be resting on the bakers twine. This would cause a lot of wobbly writing in the middle ( and I don’t know about you but my writing is not so great, it does not need any help to be worse!!)

IMG_0126

On your notebook you need to fold over the Pop Of Pink DSP to cover the ugly edge. Do not stick it down on the front though. ( See previous post video if you are unsure). The tie a piece of ribbon round. How much you will need depends how nifty you are with your bow making……me not so great but not to bad…..lol

And that is it. Instead of tying the ribbon to the top you could always use one of your punches and punch out a shape from a magnetic sheet ( you know the ones we store our dies on. They work great) Test it out first though before you glue it down that you have got the right side ( I may have done that a few times).

IMG_0134

And that is my little project today. Quick and simple but looks great especially if you have a black and melon mambo kitchen!!!  Oh the flower is from the Blossom punch with an enamel dot stuck in the middle.

Thanks for joining me today. As I eluded to earlier I will be making a hard cover notebook on Friday so do pop back for that and I will be using the pop of pink DSP. Such beautiful paper. So I will catch up with you on Friday, have a great week and happy crafting folks, whatever you may be making Mandy 😘

Sending a Smile

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would do something totally different today in the form of a notebook. As the kids are off school this week, I have been getting the “I’m bored” there is nothing to do ! So I decided to break out all my Designer Series papers and see what we could come up with. The girls enjoyed making these in all different patterned papers and it is amazing how different they all look.

IMG_0121

These are very simple to make and they don’t use too many supplies but look very pretty and I would be happy to receive one as a gift.

The dimensions used are all in inches.

Affectionately Yours Speciality designer series paper

cut at 9 1/4 x 4 1/2 score at 3 1/2 and 7 1/4

also a piece 3 1/4 x 2 1/2.

I used the notebooks from Wilko’s that are about 20-30p. I have tried making my own before and yes I can do it but I can never get quite the cleanest of edges that I like. Spending the 35p Is worth the hassle not to make my own!!

I have done a little video on how I did the notebook.

So there you have it, very simple but effective I think.

IMG_0123

Thanks for joining me today, I had fun crafting with you. One thing that I love about crafting is that I get to share what I am making and chat with everyone who makes too. I would love to hear what you are making, so if you would love to share that would be great. I am ………….

IMG_0122

with whatever you are doing. Happy Making everyone. Mandy 😘
