Pop of Pink Notebook

Hi there folks,

How are you all? Me I am fine, busy busy trying to keep ahead of the game with all that we have got planned for the summer. I am hoping the weather will hold over the next few weeks as we will be travelling all over. I am off to Scotland next week to see my mammy for the week. When we get back from there we are off to Southport to see other grandma, then we are off to Skegvagas ! My girls love it there even though it is not too far from us we still have to stay on site at Butlins. Think I will have to take some craft supplies along.

What do you take on Holiday? If Anything?

Anyway you are not here to listen to my ramblings. I made these little notebooks albeit slightly larger ones for my team mates when we went to Stampin’ Up’ On Stage in Brussels last year. I make them all the time as gifts as they are quick and simple.

IMG_0157

The best bit about them is you can use the chipboard that you get in Stampin’ Up! packaging like : to keep the DSP flat the grey board behind the pretty paper, or there is a big bit in the Oh Happy Day Card kit, it is in a lot of their packaging. So recycling is always good.

I am so sorry that the video  I made seems a bit too much edited, The computer said NO when I wanted to upload it at 22 mins long (that is how long it took originally to make) so I had to get that down to under 15 mins!! Which is a good thing really so you don’t have to listen to my waffle!! Anyway on to what you need…..

All measurements in Inches

My notebook measured 3 1/4 x 4 inches. ( I used the ones from Wilko’s)

I used 1 sheet of Pop of Pink Designer DSP.(I did not use the full sheet)

DSP

Cut 1 piece at 9 3/4″ x 6″ . Score this on 9 3/4″ side at 3/4″ and also on the 6″ side at 3/4″

Cut 1 piece 4  1/4 ” x 3  1/2 ”

Cut one piece at 3 1/2″ x 3  3/4″ scored on 3 3/4″ side at 1/2″

Cut one piece at 1  1/2″x 4 1/4

Finally cut one piece at 2″ x 3 1/2 (pink pocket)

Chip board

Cut 2 pieces at 3 3/4″ x 4 1/2″

Cut 1 piece at 1/2″ x 4 1/2 (spine)

Once you have all your pieces cut you can watch through the video.

****( I do say on the video that the spine is 1  1/2 ” x 4 1/2 this is a mistake ) sorry.***

I have a few close ups for you

This is where the note book will slot in. you need to pinch the top inwards to give you the gaping effect. The same with the pocket below

And here it is on the inside

IMG_0156

I hope you liked my project today. I used the Layering love stamp set for the greeting on the front. I love this sentiment it is so apt in so many things. I hope you manage to giving this notebook a try as they are great to make just for that little present and they look great.

IMG_0158

If you wanted to hang a pen in the middle of this notebook you can easily achieve this. Let me know if you would like to see how and I will do a quick video on it.

Thanks so much for your company, I have enjoyed crafting with you today. I will catch up with you on Monday with another little project or the how to on adding a pen!!

Happy Crafting everyone, whatever you may be making. Mandy 😘

Pop of Pink Notes

Hey there !

How are you all doing? It is midweek so that only means one thing ……only 5 hours to go and we will be on the right side of the weekend! Do you have any plans? Me I am working then I will have to get my crafty on, on Sunday to make all the blog posts for next week as I am going to visit my mammy In Scotland! Yay!!

Anyway sorry for the ramblings, today I am bringing you another simple notebook, easy to make and can either be used hanging up, in a bag or stuck to the fridge using a magnet. It is a pretty one though. ( I am leading up to the more difficult notebook on Friday on my video, so  come back for that!)

IMG_0134

Oh doesn’t it look great in those colours? Everything just pops. You will notice that I am using my fav Wilko notebooks again as they are cheap and cheerful and the paper is really good quality considering. Of Course you can make this any size you like. just leave room round your notebook be 1/4 inch. Here is my measurements though.

All measurements in Inches (cm in brackets)

Melon Mambo 3 3/4 x 4 1/2 (9.6 x 11.5 )

Basic Black 4 x 4 3/4 (10.1 x 12.1)

Pop of Pink DSP 3 1/4 x 2 (8.2 x 5)

So as I said really simple to make. On the basic black piece you need to tape your bakers twine to the top and then for the melon mambo piece I used dimensionals as I did not want my notebook to be resting on the bakers twine. This would cause a lot of wobbly writing in the middle ( and I don’t know about you but my writing is not so great, it does not need any help to be worse!!)

IMG_0126

On your notebook you need to fold over the Pop Of Pink DSP to cover the ugly edge. Do not stick it down on the front though. ( See previous post video if you are unsure). The tie a piece of ribbon round. How much you will need depends how nifty you are with your bow making……me not so great but not to bad…..lol

And that is it. Instead of tying the ribbon to the top you could always use one of your punches and punch out a shape from a magnetic sheet ( you know the ones we store our dies on. They work great) Test it out first though before you glue it down that you have got the right side ( I may have done that a few times).

IMG_0134

And that is my little project today. Quick and simple but looks great especially if you have a black and melon mambo kitchen!!!  Oh the flower is from the Blossom punch with an enamel dot stuck in the middle.

Thanks for joining me today. As I eluded to earlier I will be making a hard cover notebook on Friday so do pop back for that and I will be using the pop of pink DSP. Such beautiful paper. So I will catch up with you on Friday, have a great week and happy crafting folks, whatever you may be making Mandy 😘

Sending a Smile

Hi Everyone,

Thought I would do something totally different today in the form of a notebook. As the kids are off school this week, I have been getting the “I’m bored” there is nothing to do ! So I decided to break out all my Designer Series papers and see what we could come up with. The girls enjoyed making these in all different patterned papers and it is amazing how different they all look.

IMG_0121

These are very simple to make and they don’t use too many supplies but look very pretty and I would be happy to receive one as a gift.

The dimensions used are all in inches.

Affectionately Yours Speciality designer series paper

cut at 9 1/4 x 4 1/2 score at 3 1/2 and 7 1/4

also a piece 3 1/4 x 2 1/2.

I used the notebooks from Wilko’s that are about 20-30p. I have tried making my own before and yes I can do it but I can never get quite the cleanest of edges that I like. Spending the 35p Is worth the hassle not to make my own!!

I have done a little video on how I did the notebook.

So there you have it, very simple but effective I think.

IMG_0123

Thanks for joining me today, I had fun crafting with you. One thing that I love about crafting is that I get to share what I am making and chat with everyone who makes too. I would love to hear what you are making, so if you would love to share that would be great. I am ………….

IMG_0122

with whatever you are doing. Happy Making everyone. Mandy 😘

Honey Bee

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by. How have you all been? Have you been making some slider cards of your own? I have my last one for you today and it is a slider card with a twist.

I got to thinking that it is great making all these slider cards and having fun playing around with them but what happens if you don’t own a big shot? Could you still use the shooting star stamp set. The answer is definitely Yes!! Check out my video on you tube or that is linked in my blog to find out how I did it.

So here is the card:

IMG_0102

You will need:

All measurements are in Inches

Pear Pizzaz card base – 5  1/2 x 8  1/4 scored at 4 1/8

Serene Scenery DSP 5 1/4 x 3 7/8

Scrap of both whisper white and pear pizzaz.

I love the Serene Scenery DSP, you are able to achieve stunning cards quickly with very little effort and you get 48 sheets of this stack, do check it out, you are going to love it.

So here is a shout out to Catherine Carrol who shared one of Stampin’ Up! post’s. It was Stampin Up’s design team member Jessica Williams that came up with the idea of using the classic label punch to make a banner. simply GENIUS!!

There is a lovely image of the sky on this stack too, and I did toy with the idea of using the aeroplane from the stamp set but the cuteness of the bee took over!!

I hope you managed to make some spinner cards this week along with me, they are so fun and children do love making them.

IMG_0103

Please join me on Monday where I will be showcasing another one of Stampin’ Up! products. As usual I will have a video on Monday and Friday and a project on Wednesday.

Catch up with you soon, Happy Crafting everyone, whatever you may be making

Mandy  😘 x

Shoot for the Stars

Hi Everyone,

How are you all today? I have been busy busy what with the school holidays and Coffee and a Card. It just seems that during the holidays every time I sit down to craft, my children want to do something……….not that I mind though as I think that, In a year or two it will probably be uncool to hang out with Mummy!! So I will treasure it while it lasts.

Anyway on to today’s card. I am using the Shooting Star stamps from Stampin! Up with the matching Sliding Star framelits. I love playing with these framelits and you can stick just about anything on to spin!

image

The dimensions I used are pretty much my standard.

All dimensions are in inches

Soft Sky Card base: 5 1/2 x 8 1/4 scored at 4 1/8

( The reason I do this is I like to use Stampin Up Crumb cake medium envelopes)

Night of Navy card stock 5 1/4 x 3 7/8

scrap of whisper white and a scrap of Daffodil delight.

All I simply did was stamp the little star randomly all over the card in versa mark. Then cover with Silver embossing powder. I love the effect that embossing gives. It makes the background extra special! Then I placed what i like to call the smiley face frame lit at the top portion of the card and cut out using the big shot. I then stick this layer to the base layer of the card using Dimensional. I use 6 with also sticking some in the middle, be careful though as you don’t want to interfere with the mechanism.

For the Star spinner I simply stamped it on to whisper white and using a blender pen coloured the image in. Once that was done I used the 1 inch circle punch for the star to rest on as I found it I did not use anything you could see the pennies below.

image

For to make your card slide you need two 1p pieces and a dimensional. YOU NEED TO TRIM THE DIMENSIONALS CORNERS OFF TO MAKE IT MORE ROUNDED SO THAT IT WILL SPIN FREELY. So sorry for shouting!! I have forgot to do that important part quite a few times and wondered why it would not spin! Stick the pennies together using the same dimensional and squeeze it into the gap so the penny has the card sandwiched in the gap where the dimensional is. TIP YOUR CARD TO MAKE SURE IT MOVES.  (again sorry with the shouty! I have done the next part a few times and had to rip it off to start again) Once it moves freely you can stick your star on top of the pennies. Walla!! Spinner card.

Now all you have to do is your greeting and you are done. So fast and so simple to do. As I said I love doing these cards and my children love making them too.

I hope you enjoyed my project today. I will catch up with you on Friday hopefully with a video linked to my post on my final spinner card for the week.

If you would like to purchase any of the items used to make this card or you simply want to give your crafty stash a boost just click on one of the pictures below and it will take you to my ONLINE Shop that is open 24/7.

Oh and just as a leaving note …….Sneak peeks are happening on the Demonstrator website for the new catalogue OH MY GOD you are going to love what is coming out!!!

Until next time, happy crafting everyone whatever you may be making . Mandy 😘

Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge

12118943_10153621897749463_5052811701636734808_n

Hi There,

Thank you for joining us for another Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge! We’re so excited to be sharing this hop with you. The products used are all available in the new Annual, or seasonal, Stampin’ Up!© Catalogues.®

Today’s sketch came from the lovely Louise Thomas of white flag  designs and what a great sketch it is.

image

I had already been messing around with the type of card that I have made so decided to try and adapt the card into the sketch. This is a simple card to make and you don’t need the special spinner framelits to do it. You can simply use the classic label punch to make your track and then you are away.

image

If you are making this type of card, just bare in mind that the pull sticks out over the edge, so you have to adapt your card base size so that it fits in an envelope. I think this card turned out super cute and I am delighted with it. In my children’s words AWWWWWW!!!

I hope you enjoyed my take on the sketch and thanks so much for taking part. To carry on with the hop you simply press the Next button to go to the lovely Ania’s page or if you decide to go Previous will take you to the Lovely Angelina’s page. Thanks for stopping by and happy crafting to you, whatever you are making! Mandy 😘 x
